What rpm should an auto idle at?

What rpm should an auto idle at?

After cleaning my throttle body..my car idles at 1250 in park and 750-800 in Drive...abit high?

Exact same thing happened to me. I adjusted my idle with a dirty TB and after I cleaned it I was idling above 1k. It should be 700 or so. Just unplug your TPS and adjust the idle screw until you hit 700. Its covered in the manuals you can buy.

Set it at 800 with TPS unpluged. You get about a 650 rpm idle in D with absolutely no vibrations. Very smooth idle.

In "D" i idle at about 650rpms and its smooth. When im in "P" or "N" i am @ about 800rpms.

My idle is pretty weird too. At startup, it's at about 1k. After the car warms up though it get back to normal about 600. I haven't clean the TB yet though. The car drives normal so I don't think I should mess with it. I will clean my TB this weekend, I will see if this will do anything, if any, to the idle.

the idle speed is bound to increase as soon as you clean your TB.After 2 weeks or 150 miles it comes back to normal.This is due to the normal wear in your TB and butterfly/plate valve.
