I am looking to rent a 5x8 Uhaul Cargo Trailer for my relocation,

Will 2012 Maxima tow it?

I saw on the website it says 1000 lbs maximum tow capacity.

Don't know, but considering some of the control issues that other have had when putting passengers in the back seat and luggage in the trunk. I would be very cautious doing something like this. I would a the very least take a test drive with the trailer empty before I committed to this.

Yes it will tow a trailer as long as you do not exceed the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of the Maxima.

I just had a chat with Nissan North America. The GCWR of 2012 Maxima is 4698 lbs. The curb weight of the vehicle is around 3570. I don't think it is a wise idea to move with a 5x8 Uhaul Cargo Trailer whose empty weight is 900 lbs.
