Throttle Body Cleanup...engine Light???
Throttle Body Cleanup...engine Light???
Yea so I just finished cleaning my throttle body and after i put my airbox and MAF back into place and started my 95 SE, the check engine light came on. Is this normal? Do I have to reset it? If so, how? I know, I know....still can't figure out why my car has 3 pedals.
my guess is probably
when you removed the piping to expose the maf you removed the maf cable without removing the battery connection thus causing an error. (if i remember right obdII sensors are always going nuts) Just reset and make sure you have all electrical connections on securely. If you removed the battery before working on the maf sensor then your guess is as good as mine. Maybe a bad o2 sensor?
just my .02
just my .02
mine did the same thing. Mechanic buddy sais it is because everything was unplugged and not the battery. Nothing is wrong just reset your computer. If your MIL comes back on then you messed something up. Chances are it just got triped from unplugging things.
I cleaned my throttle body this past weekend. I didn't disconnect the battery. I took off the MAF sensor along with the top half of my stock air box. I sprayed the cleaner in all over. I held open the throttle and used a flashlight to make sure I had washed off any black stuff I could see (that valvoline stuff works great). I installed everything back and started the car. It took 2 tries. I did notice check engine light came on for a split second; then it was gone. There were no problems at all. The result was great on the street. Car was much smoother. But the was the first time I cleaned it (95 SE).
