Folding rear seats

So I have seen all over the forums that the maxima does not come with folding rear seats. Now I don't know if my max is unique or what but my rear seats fold down. I just went outside and checked before making this post. I have a 2014 limited edition sport package S. (dual ac, windows roll down with three clicks on key fob, driver and passenger electric adjusting seats, compass on rear view mirror) also comes with spoiler, fog lights 18inch gunmetal rims, smoked headlights, and tuned suspension.

Are you sure that your car is not an SV? As far as I know, the Maxima comes in an "S" trim (base) and an upgraded "SV" trim. The "Sport Package" is an upgraded version of the SV trim. I have a 2014 SV with the Sport and Technology packages. My rear seats do NOT fold down. That is one of the differences with the Sport Package-- the seats don't fold down to give the rear end of the car increased structural rigidity...

100% sure you can look up 2014 limited edition S sports package. If you would like. Or I can take a picture of my trunk or my bill of sale.

It does come with folding rear seats. The model with the glass roof and the sport model does not have the rear folding seats for the benefit of a stiffer rear. You def wont ever find a model with the glass roof and folding rears.

So I think I found out the confusion my package is actually called the limited edition package its not the sport package even though I have the tuned suspension and a lot of the features the actual sv features actually have. Sorry for the confusion guys I do apologize. But on a brighter not I love my max haha

Yep, this can get confusing.

The 'S', the 'S' with Limited Edition Package and the 'SV' WITHOUT Sports or Premium packages all have folding rear seats.

Only the 'SV' WITH Sports or Premium package have the additional body bracing which blocks any folding of the rear seat.

For those who may not be familiar with the Limited Edition Package, it adds some of the best features of higher Maxima models to the base 'S'. For the 2014 model year, those features are:

18" Dark hyper wheels
Dark finish sport grille
Smoked headlights
HID Xenon headlights
Fog lights
Rear Spoiler
Dual power outside mirrors with LED turn signals
Digital compass
Metallic trim

This package costs under $1000, and I consider it to be a worthwhile option.

I have 2 kids and 2 maxima SV sport/tech and don't miss folding seats. Trunk is large and if I need to get something that big I have many friends with suv's. Plus, I don't want mulch, lumber, etc. dirtying up my car! Better to be pissed off than on I always say ;-)

The only time my folding seats came in handy was when I ran the power and RCA wires for my sub, other then that I've have never folded them down and probably won't

I had folding rear seats in my 5th gen...never really used them. So it really wasn't a negative for me.

I had and SV with folding seats, and now have and SV premium with only a pass through. I used the folding seat option a handful of times. The shape of the hole and the angle of the seats limits what can be carried.

With the pass through, I've missed the folding seats perhaps once. Besides, it gives me an excuse to take the wife's SUV when she wants me to haul something large.

I have frequently carried such things as rakes, shovels, posthole diggers, a length of copper gutter, 2X4s, fence posts, pushbrooms, etc just using the passthrough on my Premium with no folding seats. And even if I had folding seats, my diesel tractor still needs a trailer if it is going to be taken anywhere.

I guess everyone has a slightly different situation with slightly different needs. There was a time (long ago) when I dabbled in oil painting. I remember how nice the folding seats were when I needed to take my larger framed paintings anywhere. Back around 2002, I used the folding seats on my '00 Maxima to carry plywood and floor underlayment.

Last year, we bought a large TV, and, not having folding seats in my 7th gen, we had to use one of my wife's trucks to carry it home. I have no strong feelings, but, given a choice, I would probably take the folding seats instead of the stronger frame.

Folding rear seats is a must for me.. I wont ever buy a daily without them.. You can carry chairs, tables, small furniture, bicycles, etc. Just turns the car to almost a truck for me.. The trunk is small for the size of the car.. Also I had the carried a rectangular Ottoman with the seats folded down I was able to carry it in the interior without it blocking my rear view.

Actually, the limited edition does not come with the sport tuned suspension. Only the SV with sport package does I believe.

I have a 2010 SV Premium and do not have the fold down seats. It does have a pass through, which is really all I need for my hockey sticks, but it would have been nice to have that.

Yeah fold down seats are very useful, I fold them down a lot. Kids and sports equipment. My old jetta had them both, fold and pass through.

Rear deck speakers SV

I just learned from this thread that I’m not crazy and my back seats in my newly acquired 09 SV do NOT fold down.
With that being said, is it even possible to get the factory rear deck 6x9’s up and out??? I’m at that stage right now.
