Hey guys,

Noob here. I am looking to replace the power steering pump on my Maxima. I can get a Cardone pump for about $180 plus core charge from Advance Auto. I was watching some youtube videos and it appears that I can handle the installation but I was wondering if anyone has done this and what surprises I can expect.

I have a decent set of tools including the proper wrenches and ratchet sizes from 7mm to 26mm so I think I am OK there. I am going to get the pulley tool on the loaner program from Advance.

I can also get this installed by a local mechanic for about $150 plus tax.

Do you think I should give it a go, or let the pro handle it?
