Just saw the nuttiest paint job...

I was heading home along the north leg of I-465 last night and got parked behind a Lexus GS300. It was nice...dark plum color with the requisite gold-plate badges and wheels. As we were crawling along I noticed what, on first glance, looked to be a wood grain trim along the rear deck lip. On closer study, however, it actually turned out to be a sort of faux-marble paint treatment...and it covered the entire car! I kid you not!
Now, this might be old news to everyone on the coasts (the Lexus did have Nevada plates) but I'm just a midwestern hick and I've never seen anything like it. The whole car was done in this plum and black faux-marble paint job. I really didn't know how to respond to it. I mean, I had to applaud the painter's craft at achieving a very nice effect. But on the other hand, I wanted to put it in the same category as the VW Beetle I once saw that had astroturf glued to it's entire exterior.
Anyone here ever seen something like this? Or do I have to get out more?

just go some big car shows ... you will see at least one car there everytime with that same paint scheme. I went to one in Elizabethtown, KY and there were 3 of them. 1 Integra, 1 Accord, 1 Eclipse ... all from Lexington, KY if I remember correctly. But I also have seen them in TN, OH, and IN shows.

not mystic, bowling ball. it looks like marble or a bowling ball or even woodgrain. when i had it on my 66 lincoln, i had it in a deep rust color and everyone thought it was woodgrain b/c it has blackish swirls in the paint.
