I reserved 2 cars (1 Premium and 1 SL) at 2 different dealers. One of the two dealers said he needed all my info so he can book a car (with a VIN) to take advantage of the deal. The d00d sounded like I was ready to buy one the minute it was released. Need to back him off a little.

An internet sales individual called me yesterday (for a second time) just to see if I have any questions (again).
I reminded him that I wasn't going to purchase until I was ready which will likely be later in the year at the earliest for 2 reasons.
I want to see what the feedback is from people who have purchased the car and see if any serious issues arise, plus; and more importantly; I will not pay MSRP+ nor MSRP for a car, especially since I'm already in a car I like very much. He said, yeah, I have you down as a phase 3 purchaser. He thinks that will happen in the Feb '16 timeframe.
So there's the roadmap! (At least from one dealership).

You are probably correct. I think the drift of this pre-purchase aggreement has several facets. Nissan gives the eager beavers an opportunity to have their cars earlier than the general public. Nissan salesfolks have a fish in the pond to begin dropping their line on. Having these 'early birds' out proudly driving their carefully cleaned and polished new Maximas helps build public interest in this 8th gen at the time it begins arriving at dealers. Nissan begins to get a feel for which of the five levels of Maximas seem to be selling well, which helps them determine the percentage of each level to build. And there are probably other reasons.
Gotta give Nissan a little credit for this new type campaign to get the 2016 Maxima rolling. This 'early buy' program, combined with Nissan flying dealers to Phoenix to try driving the 2016 Maxima themselves, has resulted in dealers upping the number of new Maximas they want from Nissan by a considerable amount. Dealers are experienced enough to recognize a car that will sell once they have the chance to see it in person and drive it.
Received a call within thirty minutes after building one. Then decided to look into the offer further. If I am reading it correctly you get the basic plan which is oil change and tire rotation. Not sneezing at the offer, but I thought it might include more (wiper blades, etc.)
So what's the real value of this? Say I keep this car for just 3 years, in those 3 years, I should really only be doing oil changes. How often does one need to do an oil change on this car? Once every 3,4, or 6 months?
The average mileage driven per year in the U.S. is around 12K. The recommended oil change interval for Nissan has now been increased to 5,000 miles. Oil changes at my dealer run around $32 (but will be more for synthetic or blend at most dealers).
So, seven oil changes over the 36K in three years would be around $230 or more.
But wait; as the Ginsu knife folks say, there's more.
At 12K per year, we hit the big 30K mile mark during the first three years. Some folks sort of ignore any maintenance but oil changes and tires, but there are many things that Nissan suggests we check/maintain at intervals such as the 30K mile mark. One of the reasons I have had no problem with my Maximas is because I get ALL recommended service under the PREMIUM maintenance plan. That 30K mile premium maintenance service cost me around $695 bucks.
So, even if the free maintenance only covered the REGULAR maintenance plan, that would still be around $400 at the 30K mile mark, which would mean the offer might save us as much as $630. Of course this would be different for each car owner, depending on lots of factors. Drivers who do not reach the 30K mile mark in three years do not gain a huge deal from this offer.

I was nofified by Nissan (email) that my 3 yr maintainence plan was approved. I gave my confirmation code to the dealer when I purchased the car BTW to date have not heard anything back from the dealer I originally placed the order through......so bottom line is if you purchased any 2106 Maxima and you have a pre order confirmation code you should get the 3 yr maintaince agreement through Nissan.....as I did.

No, you don't. I reserved with one dealer and bought from another. The bottom line is the dealers have nothing to do with the maintenance plan, it's all on Nissan.

No idea. maybe the the information below explains it.
The Premium and Standard plans provide reimbursement for the actual expenses of substitute transportation up to $35, limited to one day, when having your scheduled maintenance performed as shown in Exhibit A. The LEAF plan provides reimbursement for the actual expenses of substitute transportation up to $35, limited to one day, when having your scheduled maintenance performed at the 30,000-mile service. The term of your PMA, which is detailed in the Application/Declaration, will determine your eligibility for car rental reimbursement. Standard PMAs for a term of one year do not provide for car rental reimbursement. *Service Loan Cars are provided under the GT-R’s ownership amenities during the Powertrain Warranty.
Exactly. I get the premium level of maintenance, and it took the service department around four hours to do the work. I was able to watch through a large window, and there was at least one person checking something or replacing something or topping off something on my car at all times. Anyone who is not retired would not be interested/able to spend a day doing nothing but watching. They would grab the free loaner and get on with their life.

Smart man Light, people like us that have a good long history with them they would give us a free loaner regardless. Its been many of times I took the Z and Max in and my service guy said, I gotcha on the loaner as I don't know how long it will be and I know that you can't sit up here all day!

A man who has (or had?) a Z! I loved the Z from the first time I saw it, and always thought there would come a day . . . But with a wife and kids and then grandkids and soon great grandkids, my Z never materialized. There was also the money factor back in those days. But I did dream about the Z for years.
My wife and I were in Montreal years ago sitting at an outdoor café when she saw a gray 350Z and fell in love with it. Upon our return home she bought a 2003 white 350Z that she still owns to this day. Garaged, mint condition with only 28K miles on it (yes she has a second vehicle for everyday use.). Young boys still turn and stare when they hear that throaty growl with which the car announces it's approach.
bump to this thread?
Can someone who has gotten the 3 year complimentary explained to me how they got it?
I preordered my car and got the email with the reservation number. I went to my dealer and they told me to call Nissan. I called Nissan and they told me to go back to my dealer. What should I do?

I pre ordered a car on line back in the spring they sent me a confirmation number via email. I printed it and shopped around until i found the one I wanted not at the dealership I reserved it from. when I bought it I gave the dealer the code and Nissan added Security Plus Program was added to my car. I just took it in last week for 5000 mile service to the dealership I reserved it from not the one I bought it from and they looked up my VIN and gave me white glove service......I was really amazed. so if you can get the code you can buy a maxima anywhere and take it where ever you want for service. I bought my car 6/11/15 and still have not recieved anything offical but its on my record with Nissan. total cost out the door for everything that included a 72 point check $0.00
I bought my 2016 Maxima Platinum from a dealership that had only been open a week or so. They had the car I wanted on the lot, so there was no need for me to order one from the website. The dealership never told me about this promotion. You would think that they would tell me to "pre-order" one and then just buy this one from the dealership and get some free maintenance business out of me. I called Nissan and they were like Tough $hit, you don't qualify. Anyone else had this issue?
Just to add some data to this situation:
I "reserved" my Maxima at a dealer here in Atlanta and then ended up buying at a different dealer. I took my printed email in with me when I signed the papers for the car and no one at the dealership had any idea what to do with it. They made a copy of it and handed me back my "original" and said they'd look into it. Today, 2.5 weeks after purchase, I got an email from Nissan corporate with my "contract" for the Security+Plus maintenance plan so everything looks to be in order. Not sure what the dealership actually did, though.
