I installed one of these back in dec-jan, I can't remember exactly. First things first I'm removing it today when I get out of work, maybe it's a coincidence or not but ever since this things been in my car I've felt a loss of power, drop in mpgs, and now my hids flicker nonstop(hids started about 2 weeks ago).

I looked at racinglines website today with there instructions, and the ground points they use compared to shinjiduo are completely different. Maybe someone familiar with that persons kits, he sells them here in the classifieds. I don't want to bash him at all, I've just felt a negative effect since its been put on whether its related or not. Hopefully some car nuts will read this and know the issue, is there such thing as too many grounds? I've read something about ground loop? Sending the ecu mixed signals?

Car is properly maintained, also use 93 octane, and change oil every 3k

Also the reason I've waited to take it out is because I thought I was just feeling the effects of the very bad winter we had in Boston, but it's nice out now and still feels the same

 

Improper or insufficient grounding can cause some very odd problems on vehicles like these. The ONLY thing not controlled by a computer on ours cars is the lumbar support (true story). When you turn on the headlights, you are actually "requesting" the body control module to turn the lights on. Go back to stock grounding kit = good idea it sounds like.

 

thank you for the response, didn't get to it yesterday because it started to rain when I got home. Since I've had the issues I've been doing a lot of reading on grounding kits and the maximas electrical system. inknow someone will chime in, but how does the battery current sensor work? And would this be any way related to other electrical issues other then the battery?

Sorry I kind of forgot about this issue. I found out why my kit can cause problems in some 7th gens. To be more specific the problem with the 7th gen is not the grounding portion of the kit but the big three component. 7th gen Maxima's unlike previous generations actually monitor amperage and react poorly when it is too high. The fused big three wire I offer in the kit which offers the most benefit to the 4th, 5th and 6th gens creates problems with the 7th gen.

I was waiting for more feedback from the 7th gen community before coming to a so;id conclusion mainly because I only received a complaint from one person until today. Remove the extra long fused wire from you kit if you have one, I believed up until now that this was and isolated incident I should have moved on this sooner. Good weekend to all.
