When the AC is on the clutch clicks off/on continuously...about 10 times a minute...Is this normal? The air is cold. System has no leaks and charged correctly.

 

It's not normal. How do you know it is charged correctly? You know for a fact how many pounds/ounces of r134a are in there?

 

It could be normal. Cool weather, cool car interior, low temp setting could cause the low press switch to start cycling.

It usually means the system is low on refrigerant.

 

The refrigerant level is good.

I notice when the car is off and I try to turn the clutch by hand it is very tight and does not move.. I'm thinking it is a compressor problem.

 

May very well be. If you are questioning the clutch itself, you can do the aut-active test. Plus it is just kind of cool to do.

Turn ignition on, press the door jamb switch 10 times fairly quick, turn ignition off and then turn ignition back on. It goes through a series of tests 3 times. Horn chirps, oil pressure light flashes, windshield wipers turn on for 5 seconds, park lights for 5 s, high beams turn on off for 5 s, radiator fans turn on low then hi for 5 s, THEN the A/C clutch clicks on/off for 5 s. Good for diagnosing problems with the clutch. It will cycle through 3 times then stop.

It is testing the IPDM E/R...independent power distribution module engine room.

Usually if pressure were low, you would hear a bit of a knock or rattle coming from the compressor until the pressure dropped below threshold and it just wouldnt come on at all. If system didnt have a good charge, the air probably wouldnt be good and cold, either.

Agreed, tho. Cycling on/off that quick isnt really normal. I have a 2010, which is pretty well identical to 2009. 2011 saw some minor changes. Mine has never done that.

Silly suggestion here...maybe try and disconnect the battery for a while. Being that everything on these cars is controlled by a computer, its very possible that something got fuzzed up in the control module. Its easy and worth a shot.
