Hey guys,

A couple days ago I went to start my car and the steering wheel was locked and the key wouldn't turn. I tried jiggling the wheel and turning it all different ways while turning the key but it's completely stuck.

I've read a bunch of threads on this issue and apparently it's really common among the newer vehicles (7th gen Maxima, 370z, GTR, etc..) but I can't find anything for the 6th gen Maxima. It seems the DIYs don't apply to our vehicles.

Does anyone know where the steering lock mechanism is and what the part # may be? I took the lower tirm panel off but don't see anything that looks like the pictures posted for the newer generations.

Ended up spraying some WD-40 in the ignition and after a while of jigging and turning the key it eventually came loose. Works every time now, although I'm not sure how long it will hold up. Thanks anyways!
