The manual for my 93 Maxima calls for NGK double platinums. A buddy of mine just gave me a new set of the equivalent plugs in Denso double platinums. Do you think they are OK to use, or go with the NGK's? I've been told that some of the new Nissans now come with Denso plugs installed???

Try them out and see how they work for you. We already told you in another thread that the VE's don't like non-OEM spec plugs.

That doesn't mean that any non NGK platinums will make your car run like crap, but I've seen it time and time again over the years of VE's running like crap when people try different plugs.

Having said that, give them a try. Report your findings. Worst case your car runs like crap and you're only out the 10 minutes it takes to swap them back out.

No not necessarily. I'm just saying in general over the years, people have posted about undesirable results with non-OEM spec plugs. I know NGK coppers people have run fine in the VE. But I don't know or remember or care to research an exhaustive list of problematic plugs for the VE, which is why I'm generalizing here.

I have BKR7E-11's in my turbo VE, gapped to .035. The more boost you run the more you want to lower the gap.

+1 to James, huge fan of NGK's in the VE, I preferred copper in mine, platinums in everyone elses

The Denso's will probably be fine, But with the age and how that leads to finicky coils, I'd only run them cause they were free and you have them.
