Total face palm newb question on new Strut

Bought some Megan springs and struts from eBay. Obviously it doesn't come with instructions, but does this clip get removed to pull up the shock rod upwards to install?

Yes. The shaft will extend without that clip, so putting it on lets them use a smaller box for storage and shipping.
