Can you add bluetooth to factory stereo?

I have a 2009 maxima but it only has the bluetooth for phone calls so I was wondering is there any way to add a bluetooth to your factory stereo so you can stream music from your phone? I know that they sell the thing where you have to plug it into the lighter and into the aux port but I'm looking for a way where it is integrated into the stereo and there's no additional cables that you have to plug in, and maybe even integrate it into the menu where it let's you pick a source to add bluetooth as a source.

There is a blue tooth RCA thing that people buy. You plug it into the inputs and power socket in the center console and then forget about it. Your phone can pair with it, then play or stream when you set the HU to AUX input.
I don't remember the name of the product though.

If you have the premium + tech package, you should already have bluetooth audio.

Not in the 09. Only phone calls wok with BT.
I believe 2011 is when full streaming capability was introduced.

I can stream music on my 2010. I know they changed the monitor to a better unit in 2010...guess they updated the stereo as well.

Yeah I know the kits that you can plug into your aux but I was looking to get rid of all the annoying cables and wanted to integrate it into the factory stereo I don't know if there is a way... And no mine doesn't support streaming I've tried and when you pick music source it doesn't have bluetooth so...

I bought a Blackberry BT gateway. The box is inside the armrest and never needs to come out. All cables are there as well. It is connected to RCA plugs into AUX input. Turn the stereo to AUX and have your phone stream via BT into the car.
Yes, its not as convenient as having it built in, but are you willing to replace the entire head unit? 2010 has a completely different head unit, and wiring harness likely is different as well.
Nissan really shafted the MY2009 Maximas with older style HU, including the stupid CF navigation update option.
My phone is able to connect to both Cars BT for phone and Blackberry BT for music streaming.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to replace the whole headunit I thought that there might be a way to only add bluetooth to the one that I already have but I guess not

well, we have blutooth built in. The thing we are missing in 09 head unit is blutooth music streaming profile. Blutooth is technology name. Since blutooth took off, many different profiles were created, but not all devices support all profiles. Here is a link if you are interested to find more about it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...tooth_profiles

So our car has HFP (hands free) plus some synchronization features, since we can synch our phonebooks. What we are missing is A2DP (Audio distribution profile).
If Nissan cared about us, they would offer software upgrade for the head unit, but they are more interested in us buying a new Maxima.
The next best thing was already suggested in this thread. Trust me, it works just as good. The only bad part is that head phone input is not amplified, so you have to turn volume way higher than regular stereo mode.
