My son has a 1998 Infiniti I30. The junkyards have a lot of Maximas...but not too many Infiniti's. If I can find a good leather seat, I'd like to know if I can do a direct swap between a '98 Maxima into a '98 Infiniti. Better yet, any idea of the range of years of Maxima's I could use successfully in to an Infiniti?


Appreciate your looking. Finding the part number for just the seats has proven daunting.

 

Direct swap on seats 95-99 Maxima = 96-99 I30. I'll wait for someone to confirm but I swear the I30 leather seats are made with better quality leather than the Maxima.

 

I've had both the maxima and I30. Qualitative difference in leather? My I30 has perforated, but that's about it.

 

I've made the swap on a couple of occasions to replace the I30 seats with ones from a wrecked Maxima. The only thing to consider is some I30s have air bags in the seats.

The last I30 seat replacements did not have air bags so I had to install a 2.2 Ohm resistor (in the seat wire plug) to stand in for the resistance of the air bag unit.

This I30 originally had perforated seats.

 

True, '98-99s for both have side airbags in them so factor that in.

My I30t did not come with perforated seats I think they only came in the '98-99 MYs.

 

I've got Infiniti's in my 98....It's the same platform!
