Help CEL came on for EGR, knock sensor, and O2 sensors
Hello. Just recently purchased a 1999 maxima SE with 169,000. CEL came on and the scan said that it was EGR valve, knock sensor and O2 sensors (bank1 , sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2). I've been doing some research on possibly tackling the problem myself. I'm fairly intelligent, and I've done tune ups, brake work, some bolt on mods in the past. What I would like to know is the specific part numbers to order. Also any helpful tips would be appreciated. I'm committed to do this
That's the plan. I'm going to clean out the erg to see if that helps remove code. Would you know how I can get the specific part numbers for each O2 sensor, knock sensor and gaskets for upper intake, and possibly EGR?
chances are, KS is a byproduct of the other issues. Fix the other issues first, clear codes, and see if KS code returns.
However, since you're already going to rip off the manifold, I can kind of see the point of replacing it now, as it's only another 30 minutes of work to get to it and replace it.

At roughly the same mileage, I experienced an EGR failure on my 99 model. It behaved like a vacuum leak. Initially it did not through a code. It took some time to find the issue. The 99 model uses an electric EGR.
If you continue experience EGR problems and need to replace yours. I can tell you that I replaced mine with a Standard Motor Products (SMP) Intermotor brand that has been running for over a year without issue. I noticed the SMP INtermotor uses the same Hitachi electro-motor part as the OEM.
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # EGV616 is $120.79 at RockAuto.
Advance Auto Online sells an Intermotor brand for $92.99 using the online discount code of TRT41. I bought mine at Advance. Be sure to check the replacement and make sure that it uses the same Hitachi electro-motor part number as the original.
Here's a picture of the 99 model electric EGR below.
