Help me choose rim+tire size!! 2010 SV

Hey guys.

Monday I am picking up my 2010 black on black Maxima SV. STOKED.

Daily driver for work and play. NO RACING. The most performance perks I would realistically feel or want would be for going around a corner at 30mph. I'm concerned mostly with a comfy ride and NO rubbing of the tires against the wheel wall.

Can I get 20's or 22's with low profile tires and experience no rubbing? If so what do I look for in rims/tire specs to achieve this?

Will I experience a noticeable change in driving comfort with different rims?

I'm eyeballing something like these:

http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/pts/5066406179.html
http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/ptd/5069214097.html

Input?

1. Check the wheel thread at the very top of the 7th gen forum. there are probably 8o pages of wheel pics and specs.
2. No 22s unless you are prepared to pay to play. It isn't worth it to me although some have made it look really good. Either way, it isn't worth the inconvenience of having them on the car. The car will sit too high, speedo will be way off, among other suspension issues that you will no doubt develop down the line on a daily driver.
3. Stick with 20s and chose the right offset and tire size and you should be fine without rolling or rubbing. I run 20/8.5 et+32 on 245 tire and a 10 et+40 on a 285 tire on eibachs with no rub at all. Again it depends on what you want to do, how flush you intend to get, wheel specs, etc.
4. good luck.

the only other thing I would add here before you do your own homework is that if you intend to lower, and I see one set of wheels are 8.5 width et38, I would think about getting further out toward the wheel well. I assume the goal of someone/anyone who buys 22s is to make the wheel look as big as possible. When you lower that max, those wheels will camber and that 8.5 will look more inset than you may care for, but I am just making an assumption on what you are looking to do.

The bigger the wheel, the less comfy the ride is.
There is a noticeable difference between 18 and 20" wheels.

Great info. I did browse through about 30 pages of that mega thread. Really cool stuff in there.

I have no intent to lower. That's just more product/labor that I do not want to spend on. I need to double check and see exactly what rim and tires size is on there. SV with monitor package and cold package, 18in? Not sport or premium (would love me a premium though, that dual moon roofs are sexy).

Your comments in mind, I can go without the 22's. Probably skip the 20's... Anyone jumped between 18 and 19 and can share their experience? I'd like 19's but if the difference between 18 and 19 is drastic, maybe I'll stick with 18's.

That being said, if I stick with 18's (assuming mine are 18) then why not get them refinished gloss or matte? How much would something like that typically run? I'd like to think it'd be cheaper than buying whole new rims+tires. As stated my car is black....I'm torn between chrome, chrome/black, or just gloss or matte black. I think any of them would compliment the chrome trim around my windows / chrome grill. Any idea price differences between these?

Good looking car. I have a black 2009 sv as my daily driver. I went with 20s with 245/35R20 tires and am very happy with the set up. I put snow tires on my stock 18" rims, being in Iowa and all, and don't notice much of a difference in ride quality switching back and forth (obviously it's a different ride when switching, but i wouldn't say it's worse going to the 20s).

If you want to stick with the 18s, might consider using sprayable plasti-dip to see if you like the various colors. You can put it on matte, or use the glosifyer to do a chrome ish finish.

Just my 2¢

I bounce between toe sets of aftermarket wheels, 18 and 20".
I personally feel 19" wheels are the best compromise between ride, handling, and looks.

Wheels/ 22's

well i have 22s 235/30/22 my car sits pretty good ride quality is nice no complaints. i've always had 22s, 20s just don't do the look unless you lower it then you are mos def doing suspension issues. ill just stick to riding high. since in tampa flooding is common lol. if you need pic just message me your contact and ill share. p.s the second listing that you posted is a nice option even though its 20's.

Lol. I'm in Tampa brother, the whole reason I am getting a maxima is because my 07 cobalt's engine got flooded at at MacDill and Swann. Haha. Comprehensive total loss.

Tough call. I'd like to minimize how much I spend on the wheels since I still need to pay the car off. Interested in the chromish looking dip/finish. Anyone with pictures of that?

Decided I should go with powder coating the stock wheels.

...chrome?
...gun metal?
...gunmetal/color of the car acents?

What should I expect to pay for something like this?

also, interestingly enough....thought the car was black, ad said it was black...it's actually Crimson Black. More like a deep purple/deep burgandy in the light. Looks black at dust/night. Pretty sick actually, think I like this better than regular black.

I do like it, but might be a bit big for me.

I'm still torn between 20's or just painting/coating my current rims,

Paint/ powder coat runs between $400 to $600 for a set normally. Every once in a while I hear about $3-350, but it isn't common.

Found these:

A little beat up around the lip but not terrible....and I mean pretty damn cheap too. Think I might hop on these and get the lip paint touched up. I can deal with some scuffs if the rims are priced ****ing groovy like this.
