Seems it would have been a whole lot easier to buy a later model Maxima.

Why are you re-inventing the wheel?

You might be happy enough with your car the way it is, after deferred maintenance is taken care of. A well maintained 4th generation could do 0-60 in 7 seconds. Maybe 8 seconds now. I call it good enough.

On a tuner car adding SE-R emblems will unlock 6th gear in the transmission and GTR emblems gives you vtec. Gotta be careful not to blow the welds on the intake though when it kicks in yo.

00VI and y-pipe are the big power adders. Everything else is chump change. Do those two, then go straight to turbo.

You're getting dissed because you didn't read the stickies. All the power adders are clearly listed in there. Welcome to the Org.

It's a direct fit, but it's far from 'Plug n Play'. There are many ways to skin the cat. Read the setup comparisons here (click on 00vi swap, then setup comparisons):

Cams and valve springs are all I'm aware of. But, I'm sure there's stuff out there. There's a lot more internal parts for the VQ35 than the VQ30 I believe.

Go with either a Greddy Emanage Ultimate or Nistune, as they're tunable by you or a reputable shop. Only JWT can modify/adjust an ECU with a JWT daughterboard in it...

Interesting. On a side note, I have a complete 2000 Maxima parts car that runs great. Well, it used to run, until I took the manual trans and put it into my 4th gen.

I am now thinking of swapping the 00VI intake, wiring harness and ECU (then I will not get that stupid Check Engine Light due to the missing auto trans).

On this subject, its really not that different from building a muscle car other than parts are hard to come by for the vq30de. (basically what wiz said) that being addressed... In reality the maxima is limited in power by its transmission moreso than by its engine. The tranny can really only handle 400whp and even then that is flirting with disaster. (i wanna say kevlo or nmexmax did a nice work up on the issue with the gear teeth in the boosted section.) You can do the 00VI and the y pipe and get a decent return for your money, but the muscle car tricks like boring, sleeving, changing compression of the pistons, are available, if you have a machine shop that is willing to do It, and you have the 2 grand or so to spend on that level of modification.

The point of my rambling is that there are many ways to get to the magic point of a max where you can't add power to the engine because some other components will fail as a result. Wiz did it with a sc and a mevi, kevlo with an rmt and 00vi? Matty did it another way...

Its kinda like sex in a way... Many different ways to get there... But the point of the act is... To get there.
