Clutch slipping, Duh is that bad

I swear every thing I have been wanting to upgrade is now breaking, causeing me too have too replace it. Last week radio this week clutch. I am now researching clutches. I hear all my Honda freinds have nothing but bad luck with ACT, and I've always liked center force. Just if any body has an after market clutch let me know how it's going. Now I need for my wheels to break or paint.

This forum is the exact opposite LOL. Everyone hates Centerforce and loves ACT.

Yeah, what those Honda boys don't seem to realize is that it makes no sense to get a stage 3 clutch just becasue it makes the car chirp into 3rd gear. I had so many friends who had to get ne wtranny's becasue the clutches where grabbing to hard, so ACT Street disc would be idle, thats what i plan to get when i need one.

Does any one know how long a stock clutch lasts .... just ball park? I know it varies a lot depending on how you drive. I am at 60K still no problems. I would like to get an ACT when mine wears out.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know when a clutch is slipping? I'm new to driving 5-speeds (as of the summer) and have pretty much only driven my max. Right now, I've got a 96 SE that I bought used with about 85K on it, and I have no idea if the clutch has been replaced on it. I don't think mine is slipping, but I don't know how to find out either...

two types i have seen

mild (my car):

when you switch gears and you get on it.. its a delay and then it goes into the power ...

extreme (delio's car):

you step on the gas and it imediately redlines but the car doesn't go anywhere..

I have not experienced this on the max, but on many cars, when the clutch slips ... especially under acceleraion, you'll feel shuddering (kind of jerking) when your foot is all the way off the clutch pedal. You can also hear the engine overrevving slighly on bad cases

keep it in 4th or 5th gear, @ 2000 rpm - floor it. if the rpms rise but the vehicle speed does not, the clutch disc is not grabbing and it is slipping.

Re: Clutch slipping, Duh is that bad

If you're interested in Vitek clutches, email me and maybe we can work something out. I'm trying to promote these clutches more. The've been on the market a while, just not promoted that much, so nobody recognizes the name. But they're very nice clutches. Let me know.
