Slipped up this holiday season and parked on the wrong downtown Miami street. Looks like amateurs, they didnt get in but they messed up my handle. Body shop quoted me at $600 talmbout having to put paint on both doors to matchup. My question is can i just buy the parts (bout 40 bucks) and replace them? And pretty up the housing
Or will it still be jacked. Thanks for the input.
Yes you can do that, depends on how you feel about the looks of your car. A DIY job done by someone who does not know to much about the processes involved with get DIY results. I would get a couple of more bids and go from there. Why don't you turn in an insurance claim?
Don't know how much rain you get down there, but this happened to me with an old car and I did not seal the hole soon enough. So eventually the internal electronics got ****ed up by the rain leaking in and the auto lock was whacked.

Didnt want to put a hit on the carfax to save $100.

I highly doubt a small claim like this would ever get reported to Carfax. I had some work done on my car 6 months ago, got it repaired and it has not shown up on my report.

Body shops etc vary on reporting to carfax. I saw a carfax yesterday and it had accident info and EVERY oil change from the dealer and that the car got repaired two weeks later. So even though you skirt the insurance you still could get reported to carfax. Also attempted theft is not bad... Getting rear ended is not bad either. Things that would really hit you on the resale are any front end collisions.
