Maintenance Log of a 247k mile Maxima

okay, well, a 97 Infiniti i30t to be specific, but let's not get picky.

I bought my car at 133k miles. I just got in an accident last week that totaled her out at 247k miles. I provide you this maintenance log to give you a glimpse into what can be expected of a higher mileage vehicle. Admittedly, I drove my car pretty rough. I wasn't shy going off pavement and it doubled as a work truck. But it was well maintained with utmost respect.

To be clear, this is not my complete records. I am omitting things like oil changes and any other regular fluid maintenance and any modifications/improvements NOT related to maintenance part replacement. So maybe your car is around 170k miles and you're getting hiccupy performance... Maybe time to change your MAF? Maybe. lol. You get the idea, this is just to give you ideas of longevity of parts. I genuinely believe this engine would have lasted forever, although my objective was just to hit 300k miles. Alas, I have settled at a quarter million. ;-) A part out thread will be posted next week when I get the car back from the insurance company.

Moral of the story.... Keep your receipts if you plan on keeping your car. Both the starter and alternator I only had to pay for ONCE. And normally RedTops are solid, I'm convinced I got a lemon. Once they replaced it, it's been good. And replace your charcoal canister BEFORE you need to!!!

Prior to keeping records, I had already done a clutch replacement. So in the duration of my vehicle ownership, I replaced the clutch twice. Make sure to replace/machine the flywheel if you do the clutch. I couldn't and the result was that I burnt it up in 1 year. I was already setting aside time for replacement#3 when the car got demo'd.

Whew. Have a good night y'all.

Red Tops are hit and miss. I had to exchange my own twice before I got one that could hold a charge.

These 4th gens really do run forever if you don't mind putting some money into it. Certainly not the cheapest to maintain and some parts you need to go OE (or specific brands) but these cars are easy to work on otherwise.

Yadda ... Yadda ... Yadda ...

No disrespect, but for those of us who've owned our A32Bs for ... going on 16 years now ... this is not new info.

I bought my '99 SE-L brand new ... I've been through, pretty all of this ... and possibly, then some.

Bonka, both true statements. The thing got pretty expensive near the end, so I can't say I was TOO bummed. This was my golden ticket out of that car, because I certainly wasn't gonna give up on it. I loved it too much!

Turbobink.... Well, then you don't need to read it!

However, the majority of people on this forum haven't been through this and someone, just maybe, MIGHT find this information helpful/useful. Lord knows I referenced this site for years, and if this is all I have to give back to it, you bet I'm gonna do my best to give back.

Anyways, you're a local, so come on by and pick apart my car. No seriously, I got it back now, gonna toss it up on Craigslist and on here and hopefully it can be scavenged out to help out others moreso than this ****ty maintenance log.

Honestly that rear end collision doesn't look bad.. I think a new trunk and new bumper should do.. The quarter panels don't look like they took too much damage.. Overall condition of the car is mint. Why did they total it out?.. It seems to me that they get rid of great running cars that can last forever...rather than they just instead say "totaled"...lame this is why good cars are going to waste!
