Canadian Emissions on US sold car? Unheard of? Same as Federal?
SO... I have another thread going on fitting a replacement exhaust to a '98, but along the way I checked the vehicle plate and it says that the car has CANADIAN emissions. I checked the VIN and sure enough, the Canadian spec plate ID comes up.
Anyone seen this before? I wouldn't think it was legal to have sold a Canadian spec car here in the USA.
More importantly, anyone know what differences there are? The exhaust looks like a Federal spec, but I don't want to pay $65 to get one shipped here and find out it's different. Is a Federal spec exhaust going to fit this "Canadian" spec car?

Just about every car sold in both countries is identical in terms of emissions components, and your 98 is no exception. Even cars sold only in Canada but not the US at least meet federal emissions standards. Most non-California cars do say Federal and Canada.
The only meaningful difference would be that your car has DRL's that are not required down here (Canada has required them since 1990).
A federal exhaust is going to fit your Canadian 98.
