2014 Aftermarket Radio
2014 Aftermarket Radio
Hello,
I'm new to this thread. I have a 2014 I bought with 8K miles on it about three weeks ago. This weekend I had a Pioneer mvh-x560 bt installed. I also had a steering wheel control interface so that I can turn the volume, source, and song/radio channel. The call answer function is operational at this writing because the install guy said he was unsure where in the car (possibly somewhere in the back) hookup was for that option. At some point, I will let another install guy look at completing that part of the setup.
However, the radio functions well in the car. I lost the clock and phone functions on the screen above the ac controls, but I can still see the AC/temp controls when that is turned on. Overall, I can't complain because the Pioneer head unit lets you change the colors, so I was able to match the "amber" color of the car with the various colors options of the head unit. This is visible from the picture.
When I initially contacted Crutchfield, they had no info on how to change the audio receiver on the 2014 Maxima. The demarcation point is if you have the Navigation system option because then the ac and radio are combined making it much more challenging to change the Nissan radio.

Thats a nice clean install. I like how you matched the amber color with the pioneer. You're giving me some ideas here. I want an aftermarket radio but I have an 09 with the navigation and bose. i'm thinking about downgrading my stock radio controls and swapping them out for the climate controls. Or possibly moving my stock radio to the glove box. I like what you did here so I might copy lol
DVD Player
So I couldn't resist the temptation to upgrade to the Pioneer AVH-X2700BS. I bough it from Best Buy, but I'm pretty sure Amazon probably has it $50 cheaper.
Install took about 3 hours at a local shop. I added a backup camera as well because I think it's a pretty good feature. I'm surprised the 2014 Maxima didn't come with it because my wife's 2014 Accord did.
The 2700 is a good buy that plays DVDs and handles phone calls flawlessly. You can stream music from an I phone (I'm using an 6s) without any problems. The faceplate is NOT detachable. I think Pioneer's NEX 4700 model has a detachable faceplate. I honestly don't feel the need for one. If it gets that serious, I'll probably add a Viper alarm or something.
Im not sure what model backup camera it is because I didn't like the reviews the model at Best Buy had. Pioneer also makes a backup camera, but you have to mount it sort of at the "bottom" of the frame, and that can be an issue, especially with snow days. I think the license plate area is the best place for the backup camera, but some might disagree.
There's a switch (bypass) the install guy put in so that the DVD player can play while driving.
So far so good, my fingers are crossed that everything stays the same.

No Temperature Control
Hey guys I have the 2014 Maxima without the navigation and I just had installed a Pioneer AVX-4100 but as a result the temperature control is almost completely gone. The lights to the temperature control buttons are not active, it is permanently at 75 degrees, and I’ll constantly spin the dial and maybe the fan will increase in speed, but it is stuck at blowing at my feet. Front and rear defrosters do not work as well as recirculating air and I cannot change the mode.
I like this head unit, I like the HD Radio and Sirius XM functionality as well as the ability to have Apple CarPlay (even the Bluetooth is better) but the install completely screwed up my temperature controls. Any idea what caused this?
