Glove Compartment Door (FIXED!)

Was wondering if someone could answer this for me. My glove compartment door on my 09 Maxima just seems to fall down hard when I open it to retrieve an item. Not sure if this is the way it's always been or should it open up a bit slower.

the speed of your hand going down will determine how fast it falls, lol

On my 09 the door falls quickly at first about 2/3's the way down then it slows down to a gentle landing like there is some sort of friction system slowing it down at the end.

Ok thanks, I thought that might be the case. I'll need to check the hinges to see if something came loose.

there should be a damper, much like a car's shock only miniature made of plastic connected to the glove box. Perhaps the plastic broke or it was disconnected while searching for cabin filter?
Open the glove box and look on the right side on the outside of the glove box.

Looks like I found out what the issue was. After removing the glove compartment I found a tether spring type assy located behind the compartment. The string is supposed be looped so it can be to attach to the right hinge. Somehow, the string slipped out of it's crimped fastener. I opened up the crimp a bit, reinserted the string and added a bit of superglue for extra grip and recrimped it. Seems sturdy now. If it slips out again it will be an easy fix to attach another loop type holder. Here's what it looks like before the fix.
