1/4 14.9" 2003 Auto

Okay so i'm looking at the stock numbers here and what I ran doesn't add up.

Mods:
NWP Spacers
3" Exhaust + Test Pipe
JWT Popcharger
Shinjiduo Grounding Kit
+2 Timing Advance

I wonder what's wrong.. Infamous P0420 code
PS.. I didn't do any of those track tips, just reading it now.

No it doesn't really add up to be honest. Start looks good. Gutting the precats or installing headers should fix that E/T a touch, especially if you have the exhaust to get it all out. Could use a tuning device to get farther.

On a side note, what did you run against that posted that time?

Get the transgo hd2. Especially if you're 1/4 mile the car. A transgo kit will do more for making and putting power down then all those mods put together

No, dassa too mut munyy

That actually was my first time at the track, and I do plan on Gutting those cats. Brother claims he'll get me headers for my bday.. I'll wait till then.

Another thing I realized is after I left the track my oil level was oh so low.. I should have checked it before I went. I also used the 1-2-3 Shifts, probably best to leave it in D huh?

Transgo will do more for your 1/4 mile slip then headers will and it's cheaper.

I'm not sure about that.

Getting this from a website that checks the DA..

DA: -388 feet

@Matt I wouldn't be doing the labor myself so I doubt it'd be cheaper.

I don't know how much/what kind of headers are you buying?
Bought, assembled, and installed I'd imagine an hd2 kit would cost you $350 maximum. The install of headers alone if you can't do it yourself would probably cost close to that.

Just did the research and you're right it would be cheaper. The OBX headers itself is about $500
This is my daily we're talking though, I can't have harsh shifts 24/7..

Shifts aren't harsh if your motor mounts are in good condition. Don't believe the things you read. The shift isn't as bad as what people make you believe.

I was using the HD2 with worn mounts and a NWP torque brace for about a year. 1-2 can be bad, so I like to drop it into 1st when taking turns slow and stopping a lot. It's really not that bad. Everything after the 1-2 is butter and pretty much based on your acceleration. It'll only throw you back if you're stomping the gas. I think it scales well

I paid 100 for the kit and 400 for install. Whether this gets you any better times or not, you'll be glad you have it if you like to hit the gas time to time.

He has A 15 year old tranny with high miles i'm sure....IMO A shift kit is not the answer....might as well spend 1200 bucks and get A rebuild done and then when the transmission is open get the shift kit installed also...that way you won't kill ur tranny for good and gain A half sec or 1 second less maybe....edge racing also has A torque converter for 500 bucks. Also some shift kits have parts that go into the actual tranny itself not just the valve body modifications.

Guess you missed the part where he said he doesn't have much money to work with. 1700 on a rebuild and torque converter isn't going to work for him.

Poly fill your current mounts and get an NWP torque brace. I have headers and a shift kit and poly mounts. Of all those, headers are still what make this car un-slow relatively speaking. My favorite mod combo was the VB mod and poly mounts, on the flip side, if you have sh^tty mounts, then it ill be your worse mod combo. I went so far as to get my VB downgraded to a stock unit, then changed my mind when I got the poly mounts (just filled not the fancy ES bushings you see) night and day there. So crisp with the VB mod Stage II.5 in there with mounts, and it's a DD.

Next time you hit up the track, do the DR-Mod for just the track runs and see what that does for you and your time if anything.
