Replaced climate controls... again

When I bought my '96, the A/C button wouldn't stay in the On position. The previous owner had wedged a small piece of metal to keep the A/C on. I replaced the assembly with a used one which worked fine for 6ish years. Last year sometime a cloud of smoke began pouring from the climate controls as I was driving (see discolored plastic under the word Hot below). I pulled over, shut off the engine, and waited a few minutes. I turned the fan switch to off and drove home with the windows down. Since then I've never seen any more smoke, but the temperature usually stays on full cold regardless of where you set the slider. Last week I stumbled across my spare climate controls from my old '95 parts car and swapped them. Now I can turn on the heat at will! That is a great thing with winter coming. Today I frankensteined my original and second climate controls together into yet another spare unit with full working slider and buttons. A quick scrubbing of the contacts with alcohol and all lights work too!

There's nothing touching the part of the case that warped, so maybe it was just nearby heat from the mini slider switch fire that caused it.

Glad to see it worked out. I've mixed and matched a couple of climate controls over the years to get one good working unit.
