Bose 4th gen Speaker Upgrade

I just finished upgrading my bose speakers with the 1999 nissan maxima and the Infiniti Q45 2002-2006 bose speakers. It sounds superb and way, way, way better than before and most importantly its sounds like a true bose system now with great highs and lows that make the car sound like I have subs. The original bose speakers in my view could not handle the bass and power that was being produced. From the 1999 nissan maxima I took the two front speakers and put those in the front because they will only work in the front which provide the highs with treble, clarity and low bass. For the rear speakers I used the two front speakers from the infiniti Q45 2002-2006 which only made bass and no highs or any treble plus the rear speakers produce different frequencies of bass than the front which mixes and balances out perefectly giving you a really good sound quality. Last I took out the 1999 nissan maxima bose Head Unit and put back the original 1997 headunit and it sounds way better than the 1999. I dont know why but it produces really great high and most importanlty excellent lows than the 1999 which I felt lacked bass from day one that I put it in and it did. So trio of the 1997-1998 Bose Headunit, Front 1999 Nissan maxima bose speakers for the front of your 4th gen and the Front Infiniti Q45 2002-2006 Bose speakers for the rear give you great overall sound than what came stock in the car. After showing it to my little brother and friends they admitted that it sounds much better now and praised it. Also WARNING: Cover your rear bose speakers at all times when not using or driving your car from the sun as the rays from the sun destroy the woofer cone and the speakers foam that surrounds the woofer cone which our 4th gens arw notorious for. I use a cardboard box to cover the speakers everytime that I am not using my car. At first it was a hassle but it was even a biger hassle to replace the rear speakers constantly. Its now become a habbit to cover my rear speakers at all times when not using the car. This is what the sun does to your rear speakers. It makes them yellow and destroys the foam

Your warning about covering the rear speakers is interesting. I had a 2000 Maxima with Bose that was always parked outside. When the car was totalled earlier this year, the original speakers were doing just fine. It was on the 3rd head unit, though.

Now my 97 that did not have Bose follows what you said. I replaced those rear speakers twice.

Like I said - interesting.

On the 2000 Maxima, the rear speakers were in the door besides the subwoofer which was above the rear seats like the 97 maxima speakers which kept them from going bad on the 2000 maxima. Also the subwoofer on the 2000 maxima is designed very differently and it seems to be really well protected against sun light. I just wished nissan had done better to protect the rear speakers from sun damage. They should have used durable speaker cloth for the rear speakers which would prevent sun light to damage the speakers.

This is some interesting information.

There is a UV protectant grill cloth named Stinger with a choice of colors. It might help.
