I think the Bose in the 4th gen is ok, nothing special. But how is the new one since they've moved the tweeters back to the posts, and put door speakers in the back, with the subwoofer in the rear deck? Just curious.
What's the real deal with Bose? Is it that there is a preset equilization set for the cabin of the car? Is there any truth to it? They hype it less these days, but they used to make it sound as if they designed the system especially for each cabin.

why I got the Bose...
Its alittle better than a base aftermarket system, but pales to a good aftermarket system. I would say that the 2K Bose is equal to a $700 aftermarket system.
I bought it mostly because of anti-theft and being able to sleep better at night. I've owned several $2K+ systems and yeah the Bose cant even come close. But for a stock sound system, its pretty damn good. The 7" Sub does give you some good mid-base. It also is a system that does not fatigue my ears at moderately high volume. So, I'm going to stick with it for at least 2 years. Right now, I would only upgrade for GPS and DVD in the dash. I have the GPS separately, so no real need.
Its still a compromise in sound and about $450 overpriced compared to your dollar in the aftermarket sound realm. However, you can park your car just about anywhere and not have to look back 5 times
