No Resonator = Raspy, Noisy, Annoying?

I have tried to get a response directly from the exhuast experts at WSPD but they are quite difficult to reach. I know a lot of you have replaced your B pipe and I need to know if you have a resonator and what style is it, cheese grater or baffle. Which is quieter better flowing. I have just installed a complete exhaust from Y-pipe back and its too noisy now, I need some advice. Thanks in advance.

if u want a quiet setup just use the stock muffler........or........if u want something aftermarket, look at the muffer pipe and if u can see through it.......it will be very loud!.......just make sure u cant see thru it

Generally I think you should go with the biggest resonator you can fit if you want to quiet it down as much as possible. I don't know about any (if much) diff. between the "cheese grater" (there must be some other name for this I can't recall right now ) and the louvered hole style, but for best flow just make sure there's nothing protruding into the inside of it (this is mainly for the louvered style which can be punched either way).

I already have a stock muffler from a 2k2 I30, it is the variable capacity one. The cheese grater or louvered style catches the bouncing exhaust path and the baffle style just kind of muffles with sound dampening material that surround the multiholed cylinder. I know that most aftermarket cat backs use the baffle style but I had both styles on my 3rd gen and I had 3 different muffler setups. I am just wondering which one kills the most noise.

If you wnat the best flow, and the least noise get a straight through muffler and put the longest straight through resonator you can fit in the b-pipe.

I think you can fit a 36" resonator under the Max, but I'm not sure. And when you get straight through, be sure you get ones with a smooth perforated core. The ones with the louvered core make tons of turbulance, and thus backpressure.

And NO you dont want any backpressure. Search for posts on real exhaust theory not, "you need back pressure or you lose torque", it's not that simple...
