Changing and Bleeding Brake Fluid - In a hurry.

Last weekend my youngest son our neighbor bud finished up a "spring break" project to convert the 99 SE 5-MT to use G35 front brakes. No doubt the G35 brake rotors are larger, the calipers are larger, dual pistons, and all that comes with more braking contact area.

Yes it can stop on a dime now. But can anyone else on the road traveling behind you that may be following too close? I now have a new worry.

It took a lot of work on their part to pull off this modification. Much more than the "old man" would take on for sure. I am not that brave these days.

Meanwhile, I asked him to do a write up about since the pictures seem to be missing from A32 to G35 brake conversion story. There is a lot to the G35 brake modification that may not be fully understood and anyone who attempts it should know what they are getting into before they even start thinking seriously about it.

My role in the G35 brake conversion was to bleed the breaks. I knew it would take a lot of bleeding to clear the brake lines after switching calipers. It was late Friday afternoon when I got a call to help bleed the brakes the next morning. Oh! How can I do this quickly? I had a full weekend of other work planned and no time to be bleeding brakes. Then I remembered a coworker talking about using a garden sprayer to speed up the brake bleeding process. Ok. Let me see what I can do with this situation on short notice.

Here's a link to a story that I posted in the Fluid and Lubricant section about the "High-Tech Pressurized Brake Fluid Changing System" that I came up just to rush through an unexpected brake bleeding job.

Since I have other vehicles that need a brake fluid change, I plan to be using this tool again in the next few weeks.

Cheers!

I have watched a lot of videos on YouTube about making your own brake bleeder.

Thank you for creating and posting such a thorough how-to.

Now the challenge is to get the newbies to the org to "discover" all the other forums on Maxima.org, such as the Maintenance, Tech, & Care forum.
