Trip B resets itself
Trip B resets itself
Hi everyone,
I have a strange issue with my gauge cluster. Ever since I bought the car I've notice that my trip b will reset itself for some unknown reason. It usually reset around 1000 mile mark.
I normally use my Trip A to keep track of total mileage between fill ups and Trip B to track my mileage between oil changes. Just recently, I filled up my gas tank and reset the Trip A meter and took notice of my Trip B. My Trip B was setting at 947 miles, after I reset my Trip A, but when I started the car (4 hours later to drive home from work) the Trip B reset itself during the drive home.
Has anyone experience this? I assuming the solders in the gauge clusters are failing somehow and causing a reset. I don't think it has to do anything with my battery because the clock was still keeping time.

Cold joints would affect both A and B in my opinion. You use the same button to cycle them and re-set the active one. This is a very odd issue, I would blame the firmware of the whatever controller which stores the values first of all.
