Hey guys, first time posting here but i've been reading for over a year now.

I have a 1990 SE (VG30E engine, 5sp manual.) and today I just bought a 1994 SE (VE30DE engine, 4sp auto)

I was wondering if I would be able to swap my VG manual tranny into the 94 maxima with the VE engine. If so, how would I go about doing it? If the VG tranny doesn't fit with the VE engine, would I be able to get the VG engine and tranny into the 94 maxima?

 

It bolts right up. You will need VE axles.

You should stick with the VG though.

 

Why would he need VE axles if he's swapping his VG tranny to the VE30de.
BTW the VG30 only comes alive with a turbo on it, ask me how I know

 

I wouldn't bother dismantling the presumably good VG. Just get a VE 5 speed tranny and go from there. No point in disabling the VG entirely just for a few hundred dollar tranny

That way you'll have both a VG and VE 5 speed

 

I agree with James, keep the vg as is, unless it is a pile of rust, and try to get the ve tranny. The ve tranny uses stouter axles and also has the LSD.
Aside, are there 3rd gens out there with manual trans? I have been trying to find one here in florida with no luck.

 

Is the Ve tranny bad, or are you swapping because you just dont want auto?
i might be interested in an auto SE trans...
