is it worth it?

are the maxima Double Din faces worth the money even if i get them from a junk yard? cause i'm thinking they'll probably run between 200 to 400 dollars right? Instead i can get a double din at a local store for a little cheaper or around the price and it should work the same right?

My worry is that a lot of people told me the maxima bose system is real complicated and if u change the face, u gotta change everything...something about the amps on the speakers or something..i don't know, but if i just get a new face (double din) outside BOse, will i be ok hooking up or do i have to go through a long process?

You don't have to change everything. You can keep you stock speakers if you get a wire harness and antenna adapter. I'm changing my Head Unit and keeping the speakers stock for now. If you want, I'll sell you mine Bose HU, I have a 98.

Re: is it worth it?

I have my BOSE HU for sale here;

As for changing out the headunit to aftermarket, that's excaly what I did. You only need your new head unit, a bose adaptor and an antenna kit. The prices are approximately $50 for the Bose adaptor, $10 for the antenna kit. Plus you new headunit of course.

you DONT NEED a Bose adapter, just a regular NISSAN wiring harness for 95 and up. You can get them at any local BestBuy or shop for $15.99 and an Antenna adapter for $10.99.

Oh, on the harness there will be a black/white wire(ground for Bose amps) and a blue/white wire(remote turn on for the Bose amps) thats all you need to interface the Bose to your new headunit. MAke sur eyou hook up those two wire mentioned or else Nothing will work!

That will work, but I think the system won't sound right. The Bose adaptor adjusts the frequency response to better suit what the BOSE/amps/speakers are expecting.

i know what your saying, but i just did a 96 and a 99 max that both had Bose systems in them in the past two weeks at my shop. Each one got a Pioneer headunit and it worked perfeclty doing it my way. NO INTERFACES, NO EXTRA DISTORTION OR NOISE

I am getting a JVC SH 707 next week and I currently have this setup:

stock bose speakers all around
Panasonic aftermarket HU (casette deck - 15x4wats)
NO bose interface adapter (since 15 w is so low?)
RCA converter for 2 12" subs

Do you think it will be Okay if i simply replaced the new JVC (50w x 4) inplace of my panasonic (15wx4) ?

Will this not blow out the bose amps since your putting 50 watts per channel towards those bose amps ??

Im jus confused on whether i need that damn adapter!

thanks in advance!

Not to hurt your feelings, but 50x4 does not come from any head, I know they rate them that way, but there not, don't believe everything you read.

Yeh, I understand all that, but thats really not the point.

whatever it may be, 45 x 4, 50 x 4, or 19 x 4(rms), Im more interested in seeing if this HU will work with my stock bose system

I couldnt care less about how much it outputs since the bose speakers have the amps.

thanks

Re: Re: Re: aftermarket head unit with bose speakers

Got your e-mail. I think you have to use your line-outs to feed the Bose amps . . . if you don't want to use a Bose adaptor. That would work, but it may sound a bit off. See how it goes. If you don't like it, you can add the bose adapter later.

I talked to a bunch of different car audio shops and some of them said...since you already have a aftermarket HU..and no bose adapter...then it might already be wired to accept aftermarket units and not interfere with the bose amps etc. - just plug n play

But, some others said... the newer JVC will output too much power compared to my current cassette deck and it will fry the bose amps.

So, I went to best buy and got a bose interface adapter ..it was $40 but I got the hook up for about $10 - so just to play it safe, im gonna hook up the adapter and if everything sounds good...im set

thanks
