I've been a long time lurker on this forum, but never an owner until now. Last week I finally took the leap and bought me my first ever Maxima. It's a lightly used Platinum (only 8k miles) with every accessory you can possibly have (except mud flaps perhaps?). Been driving this car for several days now, including a small trip out of town and I am absolutely thrilled with this car!!
Thanks to all of you who have shared your insights and helped with my sometimes dumb questions. I appreciate you all
Congratulations! The hue of blue looks great on the Maxima! I kinda of wish I had chosen blue over my silver. Enjoy your car and be safe! I hope you get many miles of "smiles" from your car!
Good to have you aboard. You will appreciate the Platinum version especially the 360 camera view! I won't have another new car without it.
Great way to buy this car with only 8 K on the clock. That way you let the 1st owner eat a large part of the depreciation and you inherit the balance of the factory warranty. Only sugestion is to get the factory wheel well guards (hardly mud flaps as were knew them) as lots of stones find their way to the paint.
I'm assuming you had the service records pulled for any recalls. Start with an oil and filter change if that has not been recently done. Also visually inspect the engine air filter and if it looks at all dirty, replace that just for piece of mind.
Congrats! What was the sticker on that thing for used? I am extremely curious!
I probably didn't get the best price, but I was dead set on getting a 2017, platinum, low miles, in blue and I didn't want to drive far to get it.
My OTD price was 35,750. I know no one pays MSRP, but the suggested price with installed options new would be close to 45k (before taxes), so I'm reasonably satisfied with what I spent. It still has the new car scent, and is in fantastic shape
I hear ya, I really didn't like the rims at first but there starting to grow on me. And so far I've at 5 compliments about the rims specifically, so maybe they're more stylish then I thought

Thanks for the advice. I got 2 different history reports before the purchase and they were both clean. I did all the typical stuff, checking for uneven gaps around the doors, looking at tire wear, making sure the car doesn't pull to the side when I take my hands off the wheel. I don't have any illusions it will be a 100% trouble free car, but I got a couple years of warranty left for when that does happen.
Re: the 360 view, holy cow I'm loving that feature. I really didn't really think much about it before but now that I have it I don't know if I can live without it. The other thing that I'm super impressed with is the adaptive cruise control. I know some have complained about it here, but it really works much better than I expected
Thanks for reminding me about the filter/oil change. I meant to ask the dealer if he knew when the last one was done, I may just preemptively get it done just in case.

That is definitely on the high side for used. I am seeing them brand new between 34/36k 2017 Platinum. But it depends a lot on the area you are in to get a deal like that unless willing to drive a bit.

As long as you are happy, that is all that matters! Again, congratulations on your car! I purchased mine in September last year and paid 35K OTD for a new SR, with 0% APR for 72 months. A premium would have cost me 37K OTD, so you didn't do badly on your deal, in my opinion.
Ya it was about 2k more then the best price I could find in my area right now. But some of those others had many more miles or less acccessories so I'm not complaining. There were a lot more SL's to choose from, they were averaging around 29-30k.. so I figure I could have snagged one of those for about 32 OTD. Lovin all the bells and whistles of the platinum though

Those wheels (with rims) look much better in person than in the brochure. I also wanted to remind you about the heated steering wheel too. Best thing since sliced bread and great feeling no matter when you use it.
Forgot to ask if you have the rear diffuser? I added mine even though the option was over priced as it seems to finish the back off very well. Keep us posted.

Wish I could appreciate the heated steering wheel, but living in Florida I might get to try out one day in January
Yeah I got the rear diffuser, spoiler, and also the chrome rocker panels with ground lighting as well. I'm not much into modding but I'm thinking about putting a color filter over them.. maybe green or something.

Even in Florida when it's 50/60 degrees you will love how the heated wheel feels. I also have the rocker panel/ground lighting and from my point of view, the color is perfect for lighting the car at night. Not sure about the color change idea. I have the changeable interior lighting and in reality, due to the switch location, we seldom change the color from the cool blue that is enabled now.
Given the highly optioned car you have, I think the 35 K price was fair if it was inclusive of all taxes.
PS Every now and then someone advertises the piano black power window switch covers which helps pick up the door trim blahs. I don't care for the fake wood trim on the dash but I haven't seen anything better to replace it with that is not as cheesy.
True dat, I suppose adding a color filter might lower the brightness anyway.
I have my interior set to Blue as well, might try Yellow too. I kind of wish red lighting of the controls could also match that, but oh well. As others have noted, the regular white ambient lighting in the dash panels can hardly be seen, despite being at full brightness.
Well, I spoke too soon about the wheel heater. Lo and behold it got down to the 30s today. That heater is pretty toasty, I think I can lay some strips of bacon on there for breakfast
I've been lurking here for a while, as my interest grew in the new model Maxima.
Ended up picking up a new 2017 SL (black). Got her on Thursday night. Been looking for reasons to drive ever since.
Welcome to the club AleBrew!
I'm glad to hear your enjoying your new ride too. I know what you mean about looking for reasons to drive, i keep conveniently forgetting something on my shopping list every time, dang guess I gotta go back out to the store Again

My wife thinks I'm crazy, but she's enjoying my willingness to shuttle anywhere around town for her!
