Hello,
I have a 5-speed Manual I need to replace. I am having a hard time finding one in the Central Texas area.

Are there any other Model cars I can use the transmission from that will work in the Maxima?

Are there any years newer than 1999 that I could use the internals from the transmission that would work in the case of the 1996 Maxima (swap the insides)?

Any info is appreciated.

How are you going about finding the transmission?

Are you calling individual yards?

Wrecking yards communicate with each other.
If you ask, they will find you one at a competitors yard.

Or you can look on line to find ones nationally.
Transmissons can be shipped in from other states if needed. Or transmissions are not rare.

I just looked at LKQ in texas . They are a national chain.

Google will be more helpful than the phone.

 

you can use the 00-01 transmission . Same thing direct bolt on but a wee bit better.

Widen out your search ,don't be afraid to drive or have it shipped.
