preferred ATF?

I searched, what do most folks use- 99 max, do they use dex III?
Car did not use synthetic when new, so on a drain and fill whats the good choice? a non syn? Thanks
is there a main thread or sticky on this? I searched

TOYOTA has t-4 and also world spec (WS) and says not to mix but maxlife (valvoline) makes a fluid they say covers both???? makes no sense.

Maxlife ATF is good stuff. In fact, Valvoline's Maxlife sub-brand is specifically designed with high mileage in mind. You can get it at a good price at Walmart.

Another good ATF is Castrol Full Synthetic. It is on sale at Autozone until the 8th, 2 for $10. I picked up four bottles for my car.

There is nothing wrong with using synthetic in older cars, even if they didn't use synthetic when new

The Nissan OEM fluid is the cheapest for me and works pretty well.

You need a Dexron III.

The brand is up to you, a Dexron III is a must.
