1997 Maxima Transmission drain washer?
1997 Maxima Transmission drain washer?
Hey everybody! New to the forum, and the new owner of my uncle's 1997 Nissan Maxima! Its the base model trim i think, no spoiler, no sunroof, and steel wheels with hubcaps.
it has surprisingly low mileage, right now about 69,500.
My uncle didnt want to throw any more money at it, because over the years he had to weasel his way through passing emissions inspection, and had "multiple mechanics" look at it. He said if i didnt take it, he was gonna junk it! To me that seemed fishy, because theres nothing on a car that can't be fixed (given enough time and money), and its odd that he was able to spend enough money to justify getting rid of the car without having the problem fixed! I thought "what the heck, free car! I can fix it." I build vintage mopeds, and have always been mechanically inclined, and i wanted my first car to be one of this era anyway, before they essentially became computers on wheels. Turned out it was throwing a P1400 code, which was the EGR solenoid control valve. It cost me $60 and i replaced it myself, passed inspection!
Now that i have a running, roadworthy car, i'm working through it to make sure it will last me many years and miles.
I'm getting ready to change the transmission fluid with Valvoline Maxlife, which i had read good reviews about. i ordered these washers for the drain pans, assuming the oil and trans. crush washers were the same size? Link below:
