CC lowered on heads...PICS >>

Its almost time....thought I would post a few pics of the amount removed from the CC to reduce CR for the power-adder. Its still not ready, but when it gets hot outside, it will be.

The first pic is getting started on the CC. AS you can see, these valves have already been Swain coated, along with the new piston domes, skirts, etc.

These are before and after pics to give you a better idea of the amounts removed from each CC. Notice the position of the valves, and how much they are exposed after the material is removed. After the molds and flow were calculated, I should see a little over 9.17:1 ratio, with the head gasket.

it looks cool... but not being an internalist can you give me a 2 second summary of what the result should help with?

Well Don is pretty hush-hush on the power adder but lowering the compression ratio will allow him to boost/nos at much higher levels than possible w/ the stock oem compression. Since I "think" he wanted to lower the cc and maybe get the heads to flow better, he just went ahead and killed two birds w/ on stone. Interesting way of lowering compression. Never see that before. If he lower the compression just my cutting the combustion chambers up, that's alot of meat. I hope he developed a thicker headgasket for himself and others here. We could really use that one. Nice pics Don!

WOW , I wish I knew what all the stuff you're doing means, but I bet we will all find out the end results in the coming months. All I can say is thanks for going to all the trouble. I will defintely make the first meet you attend with the finished product. You and guys like Uncle Max are a breed apart.

That doesnt look likely for now on roadbeasts part if you dont know by now, he unfortunately blew the 3rd cylinder on his car while trying to run a 150shot on a 6 fogger nos system in 1st gear last night or the night before and bounced on the rev limiter a little bit more then an average car(maxima) can take and there goes the 3rd cylinder. He has told me that he is going to rebuild the engine.

I'll let him explain more if his up to it.

Thought he had an extra engine though? Or at least quick access to it? Maybe something more will come out of it for him.

I'm thinking 400+ at the wheels, which would be ~550 crank (calculations anyone?). I hope it all works out for my trip to CT

Looks good Don. A lot of detriot muscle shave off on e the heads to change compression as of what i know of. I guess this is similar ideas.

Trip to CT? Time for a meet!

Hey Don, what about un-shrouding the valves a bit and removing the material on the outer sides of the cc? This would also lower the compression too?

When and if Don comes up I think we should set up a day at the track because I'm sure everyone including myself would love to see his car tear up the 1320

It wasn't 150 shot. It was only a 100 shot. He's running the same jets as I am. I believe Thomas is on the same jets too.

I wish I had as much cash as Don. He does everything the right way. There's no rigging. Everything is done to improve performance, driveability, and reliability. I've seen cylinder heads modified this way before. It's much easier to do it this way instead having to get pistons and rods fabbed for a Maxima to lower CR. I've been told of Don's future setup by a special operative. It's going to be insanely wicked especially from a automagic Maxima that looks mostly stock. With all this power and torque, Don made the right choice in getting an automatic. Once beefed up, autos are far more reliable and consistent.

I'm forecasting an 11.3@122mph with a 1.7 60'

Excellent job, Don.

WOW! Thanks for the confidence. Believe me, I wish I had as much cash as this is costing. I started this a year ago (remember?), and the process has been mostly "figure it out as you go" type stuff.

The Rods and Pistons were made too, but this was the most efficient way (I thought) to reduce the CR...btw, in my first post, it should read 8.17:1, not 9.17:1. As long as we were removing material from the head, might as well do it this way.

I'm planning for lower ET's than that, but right now I would settle for that!

WOW...very awesome. Lowering the compression to allow more boost means either big custom turbo, or nice SC setup. Hopefully the former.

If you make it here to CT, I will be the first to lick your high boost maxima!
