2016 Platinum saying "check antenna" for xm radio

Hi, I just purchased a 2016 Platinum and trying to get xm set up, but just keeps saying check antenna when I try activate. I called xm and they said I have to take it into a dealer to have them fix the antenna. Anyone run into this?

thanks

Since I bought my 2017 SL in December 2016 I've seen this pop up exactly 1 time, never to be seen since. Dealer was stumped because it set no code and of course they could not duplicate, HA! Radio works fine.

I have a 2016 that keeps saying "Check Antenna". Worked fine until my last dealer visit yesterday for routine maintenance.

Is everything working now and back to normal? I have a 17 and have seen this exactly one time in my two-and-a-half-year-old ownership. It lasted for about an hour and I have not seen it since. Don't you think it is a little odd that you were seeing this message while also viewing your antenna reception showing you are getting good reception?

Thank you for the reply! No - not working. Hoping for some magic but I won't have a chance to drive it again for a few hours. The signal status displayed (I think?) is related to my cell phone that was connected at the time. I'll turn it off to check.

What happened starting this morning - the touch screen came on, then started rebooting - over and over - until finally it stayed on - all functions worked except for the XM radio. Then I turned the car off - and on - same thing happens. It would boot up until the map screen displayed, then start over.
Further, I have the Nissan emergency service enabled. Made a test call with it and all good. I guess the Cell antenna is separate from the XM antenna. If that's really what the problem is.

So bizarre that I never had an issue until the dealer yesterday. They checked the recall for the brake system and started a hard sell to get it done (3 hours I didn't have). I could not leave it at the time. If anyone knows the connection points for the antenna, I'd love to be able to check.

Could be as simple as disconnecting the neg terminal of the battery for 1/2 hour.

So - this morning was the last time it came on and stayed on. Now it just reboots over and over. Not sure removing power for a period of time will solve anything - but - I'm trying it now.

Strange dealer. If its the recall for the brakes catching fire, they are not supposed to let you have the car back until its fixed. they give you a loaner. Is the XM antenna in that protrusion on the roof of in the windshield?

Took it back to the dealer. They can't figure it out and want to replace the head unit in its entirety.
Such are my first world problems.

Before I had a Maxima I had a 2006 Mercedes and Sirius XM mysteriously stopped working. Not everything but some clusters of stations could not be received. Sirius helpdesk worked with me several times over a period of 3 days, each time not solving or explaining the problem but declaring that I needed to go to the dealer. After being elevated several times in the Sirius help hierarchy did they declare that they changed broadcasting frequencies (or something equally technical) and my old outdated receiver could not accommodate the new bandwidth. Okay... I was obsolete.

But a a year later I’m still getting calls to resubscribe and if I bother to tell them why I canceled they declare it’s not true. I have never found any information about this on the Sirius site.

I doubt your receiver is obsolete like mine was but my point here here is that Sirius is of little value in solving problems or even explaining what happened. If “I’ll send a reset signal” doesn’t work they are useless.

it really does sound like to prob is in your radio. Wow, that’s going to be a pricey fix, I’ll bet. Sorry.
