cb radio antenna

I'll be on the highway a lot starting this summer and figure a cb radio would be a good investment so I can listen to truckers and not get pulled over. Anyways, post pics of your cb antenna and where you got it. Any additional comments/info are appreciated. Thanks.

Radar would be better...but i had a small cobra cb in my old car with a k40 antenna. Make sure you set your SWRs otherwise youll burn it out

k40, craps out after a while,
Valentine 1, expensive and annoying, it goes off at everything, all security systems.
belltronics is also recommended.

Id rather go with a cb than a detector because a) cb is a lot cheaper, b) detector wont help much if the cop turns his radar on/off a lot. Problem is, the ridiculously tall antenna, thats why im looking for a small one.

I found it easier to just get the magnetic mount antenna from Radio shack. It's not too tall. I put a piece of plastic underneath the mount so it doesn't mess up the paint. I put it on the trunk, and run the wire to the CB inside and thru the rear seat opening. When I don't need it, I take it off.

Sorry man. I don't have any pics right now. Mine was about three feet in lenth, was black with a black base. Some are silver with a black base.

The CB is a cheap Cobra from Walmart that I modified to use the cigarette lighter as a power source since I didn't want it permanently mounted. So it's only in the car when I need it.
A CB is the way to go. It's saved me more times than a radar detector has, and when I used to tow my race car, some truckers were pretty helpful in giving me room or just talking.

Has anyone heard of removing the stock antenna and using a CB Antenna and connecting both CB and radio. I've seen it somewhere on another Mod forum. Only thing I can think of you would have interference if both units were on, but most times I'm listening to Mp3's or XM.
