What is this and where does it go? -97 Max engine part.

I found this dangling under air intake. I do not know where it is supposed to be installed. Any help?

Air intake temp sensor. There is a provision for it on the stock intake tube underneath. If you have an aftermarket intake you will have to find a place to attach it.

There is a 1/2 to 1 inch hole on the bottom portion of the curved section of air intake (plastic) right by the air filter box. You have to really look for it in there with a light.
You are lucky you didn't lose that rubber grommet.
The large diameter part goes inside and the smaller parts outside so that it straddles the plastic casing and holds the sensor. Do not lose that grommet.

that the same 2 op replied with the same answer, or the actual answer itself? i wondered because i replaced that curved piece on my 95 and i dont have a sensor in mine. but that [piece was missing for a long time, after i replaced it the max ran a lot better for awhile anyway.
