Clutch help with 2001 SE 20th anniversary

Need help with my Maxima. See above for type. 3.0L 5-speed. 240k miles! LOVE this car!

There may be some other forums I need to see, but I am new. My maxima clutch pedal has been sticking down for some time . I often have to pull it back up to starting position. Then I noticed a metal "swooshing" or rubbing sound when coming to a stop, placing in first and holding clutch pedal in.

Just the other day it was giving me a LOT of trouble getting into or out of any gear, including reverse.

Is this the clutch, the springs on the clutch pedal, or something far worse in the transmission?

Any suggestions on a good clutch based on what my intent is below, that won't destroy my wallet?

I have never replaced a clutch, so i really dont know. I love this car! I dont want it to be dead!

They dont make manual drive like this anymore! I pissed off a newer challanger down the highway!! Hahaha!

I want to eventually garage this, tear the engine and tyranny down and rebuild. Then put a twin turbo kit on it. (I've heard this engine is the same as a 350z?? And there is a bolt on twin turbo kit for it!!!???) Then put a true split exhaust coming out the sides like the old mustangs, bug leave it kinda look like crap.... you know to **** off more people!! 😈

Im just not ready for it to be garaged just yet.

clutch pedal sticking is probably your clutch master cylinder is bad and noise you hear when in gear but with clutch pedal to the floor is probably your throw out bearing is bad. If it is noisy when you are idling or not on the clutch pedal then your tranny needs to be torn down for new bearings

There is no noise at idle. And it does not feel like it is slipping in any way.

Does this master cylinder or bearing come in the kits you can buy for $42 to $150??

Did you check your clutch fluid?

Holding the clutch in for long periods can wear out the throwout bearing. You need to pull the trans to replace it so might as well as replace the clutch if you are going that far. I lived with my throwout howling for a year before I decided to replace the clutch.

My biggest question:

If i order the clutch kits online, is the clutch, the master cylinder, the drive cylinder, the thrower bearing, etc all included?

A clutch kit consists of a clutch and throwout bearing. You need to order the rest separately if needed.

Thanks. Any suggestions on good places online to not get price gouged and still get decent quality. Maybe even upgraded quality if I will eventually do a complete engine teardown and rebuild and install a twin turbo kit on this engine with custom exhaust?

Yous should look at an Exedy OEM clutch kit. And you don't have the same engine as a 350z.

Thanks. I think that was the real cheap $42 standard OEM one. Was worried since it was so much cheaper than everything else.

And damn if it didn't drive like it tho! I crushed a Challanger in this!!!

An Exedy clutch kit, which is the same thing Nissan dealers sell, is about $140 and you should also probably replace the flywheel with that many mile which is another $50.

Like this?

The other parts: master cylinder, slave cylinder, thrust bearing, flywheel... where should I look for these?

Could the flywheel just be resurfaced?

That is the kit. You don't need the cylinders replaced unless they are leaking. You can try to resurface the flywheel, but it has 240K miles on it already so if the resurfacing doesn't work well, expect to spend another weekend pulling the transmission to replace it. Personally, I would spend the extra $50 and not have to worry about resurfacing but that's just my opinion.

Thank you very very much!

Do you have a good video link for the actual process on this car?
