How accurate is the mpg on the dashboard?
It's accurate, but not precise. If you want your true MPG's, calculate it by hand.
Secondly, your thread title of "MPG" is extremely poor. It's not a thread title, it's an isolated word. I have revised your thread title to something with meaning to help readers of today and people that use the search function here on the ORG in the future. Thanks.

Man I don't know how you guys are getting mpg readings of 23 and higher. My car has consistently got around 21.3, on vacation I did see 22 but that was yrs ago and I don't drive Max on long trips anymore.
I also have engine braking set to OFF, if that makes a difference.

I have a 2011 maxima with the borla cat back and my mpg says 19.0 on the dash but it’s incredibly wrong compared to the math. I know its running rich and i like to get on it sometimes but it shouldn’t be as low as it is. In town, with a 20 gallon tank, i get 220 miles on a tank. Not entirely sure how I’m getting 11mpg but on the interstate i get 20-22 mpg. The car only has 78k miles on it btw.

PS: Clean your MAF and change the air filter
Also does not help that i go to a college based around cars and everyone encourages driving like an idiot. Gotta love UNOH 😂

Do ya'll live in the mountains? Based on what I am seeing, you all have really poor highway mileage. As a matter of fact that is what I have been getting in the Covid era where I am not driving that much and driving in town stopping every 100 feet for stop signs (sigh) In the winter with AC off, mine is 30-33 (depending on the wind) for the same route in the Summer 27-29 ...although if the wind is good, it can be better) mahanddeem is correct. Keep your foot out of it, maintain your tires, change your oil and filters (air and oil) regularly and did I mention, keep your foot our of it? Also note, that just because everyone drives like an idiot, you don't have to. Be the better person, you don't have to be the first person to reach the next stop light! (Ok, I can admit it is a bit fun at times to feel yourself pressed back into the seat...but it does come at a cost and it doesn't have to be WOT!) If you really aren't driving start and stop, then you may have something really wrong and should get to a good mechanic.

, just put in fresh plugs, air filter is clean, proper PSI in the tires, the car was checked out in Oct when I got it via a Nissan dealer, and the only issue that would cause less MPG was the plugs.Got about 21.3 on this last tank, filled up with 70miles left, that was on the premium tank, went back to 87 on this tank.

Took the car for a drive from Houston to Bandera Tx and once i returned back home my MPG was reading 50 MPH miles. The trip is roughly 460 miles
