Price quote for plugs?
Hey Max fam!
I just hit 170K and am planning on having the spark plugs replaced.
Is $300 a reasonable price to pay for labor to have it done? My local shop said 120 but they may have forgot you need to take intake manifold off and all that.
What have other paid do have new plugs put in?

Just for labor? Not too bad if you dont want to do it yourself
. Anorher $100 for the plugs amd I would say that is pretty reasonable if they replace the plenum and throttle body gaskets as well.

Yeah, doing the plugs takes quite of a bit of work to get everything off and back on with regard to Bank 1. There is no getting around.
If you are not going to do it yourself, then make sure you get it done by someone you trust; you don't want to have to have it done twice.
Between 2.5 and 3 hours for labour. In addition to the plugs, you will need, since it has never been replaced, a (1) new intake manifold gasket and (2) PCV valve as well. So, the price can get up there pretty quick. That said, you only have to do it once, so make it count.

And to add to that, be emotionally prepared that your Bank 1 valve cover is shot (spark plug tubes leaking oil) as well. With 170,000 on your car, there is a very good chance that the valve cover will be need to be replaced as well. That will add labour and parts costs.
Thanks for the info guys!
I might just take it to the shop we shall see if this guy knows how to do all this stuff.
I already replaced the PCV valve myself about six months ago.
I was thinking of having the valve cover gaskets done at same time as the plugs.
How much are the gaskets?

Yeah, I would argue that replacing the rear valve cover is in your best interest even if it is not leaking. You are going to pay just have everything apart to do the spark plugs, so it is good preventative maintenance. You can leave the front bank for now if it is not leaking because that is easily replaced.
RockAuto's cost for a valve cover is amid $60s, and the gasket is $12-$28, for a rough ballpark idea.
