60k tuneup price?

My local mechanic quoted the 60k tuneup for $250 bux. Is this a fair price. this is without platinum spark plugs.

For me, Platinum plugs are crap. Iridium plugs are becoming more popular right now, they give off more power because they have a .4 mm electrode which requires less voltage and gives off a bigger spark unlike the platinums which have a 1.1 mm electrode. Iridium also has a higher melting point then platinum. Iridium is also harder than Platinum I think so I belive that would make it last longer.

How much would all the parts cost if you were to do it yourself?

Fuel filter?
Spark plugs? Iridium/Platinum?

Uhhh.. I really don't know what else is involved, besides oil. Somebody who has done this let me know. There used to be a write-up on maximadriver but it seems to have disappeared. Thanks.

fuel filter is like 10-15 bucks.

platinum spark plugs will be like 50-60

5 quarts of oil will be around 10 bucks. a nissan oem oil filter is 5 bucks.

you can save a lot of money by doing it youself, all this stuff is relatively easy (the fuel filter might take some patience though)

When I'm gonna do my 60K tune up, I'm gonna change the fuel pump to a R33 Skyline GT-R pump. Just thought I'd say that.

From: Reno, NV
the 60k service should change:
belts
fuel filter $12.08
spark plugs $56.22
air filter $9.95
PCV (only if broken) $8.61
oil filter $4.97
engine oil (mobile 1 at walmart) $20.00
transmission oil(automatic) $10-$30
gear oil(manual) $10-30
radiator fluid $10-30

I think that's it but I may be mistaken.
It will be cheaper to do it all yourself, but will take time because you probably don't know what your doing.

What I would do is change the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, and belts on your own, maybe even the engine oil anf filter also and let the mechanic change the transmission/gear oil and radiator fluid for you.
