Question How to remove swirls in paint and bring the luster back?

Hiya everyone!

I am pretty new to paint care and waxing/polishing etc.

My car does have some swirls in the paint you can see in the sun.

What is the best process to clean it and restore it? I have some cleaning wax but not much else.

I'm also planning on bringing the luster out in my paint job and am new to it. I have not bought a dual action buffer yet and am wondering what the best one is.

You really won't know what's crap and what's gold your first time out.

Start with harbor frieight's DA polisher and your local chemical guys dealer for compounds.

Buy what you can afford and start from there.

Take off as little as possible, you can always chip away more but not put any back.

Start with light polishing pads and compounds and then go into cutting pads and compounds.

Your basic swirl removal should go as... Microfiber pad + Cutting Compound, then Polishing pad and compound.

But again, start with polishing first and see if you are satisfied with those results.

I am not in agreement that those who are inexperieneed (admittedly) in auto paint care/reconditioning should begin with the use of a DA or RO polisher.

This is very likely to result in frustration to the user, a poor/poorer result and perhaps even damage to the vehicle’s finish.

I am planning on practicing on my dulled out 09 Versa first. I'd like to learn this craft and am looking for quality tools, not necessarily professional,

Swirl marks mostly are caused by improper washing and drying the paint finish while using improper tools. If you don't change this then the swirls will just repeat.
