Brake becomes hard to push with cruise control

This seems to only happen when adaptive cruise control is engaged.

I don't exactly remember if it happens when the car is accelerating or reducing the speed.

First time I press the brake, it is hard to push but then it becomes soft and easy to push for the second time.

I'm not sure if this is a normal behaviour for Maxima

Just went out to test, it seems to happen when the car is reducing the speed to stop in front of a vehicle.

Does anyone else's car do this?

Yeah sounds similar to how mine acts. It's normal, though I wouldn't say its hard to press, more like there's a different feel to it during the situations. Probably has something to do with the systems that work to slow your car down automatically. It still brakes more when you press the pedal and then it disengages and goes back to normal which is why you feel it go back to normal behavior the second press.

Typically, brakes become harder and harder the more you push and then it becomes soft almost immideately after the engine is turned on. Right?

It is very simillar to that except what's causing it is different here.

Is what you felt simillar to what I described here?

uhh yeah took me a couple reads of your first sentence but yes roughly a similar feel as that.

It's normal, several cars that I've driven with Adaptive CC does a similar thing to the Maxima when the car is braking while coming up to another car. The brake pedal feels different. Then goes back to normal after the ACC is disengaged or after the situation of slowing down due to another car is done.

If it's repeatable and like you said, only happens when the car is slowing down due to a slow car in front of it then I wouldn't worry about it.
