I just replaced all the brake pads/hardware and had the rotors resurfaced on my max. I went to my local Nissan dealership and the parts alone were going to cost me $250. They quoted me $500 for parts and labor. I also checked prices at local repair shops and with OEM parts all of the repair shops quoted me prices in the $400 to $500 range. I wanted to stay with the OEM pads since they lasted 98,000 miles, don't squeel, and I am happy with their performance.

I ordered all the parts through courtsey nissan and paid $140.00 shipped to my door. Then I went to a local shop I trust and they charged me $120 to change the pads and resurface the rotors. $260 is way more reasonable than $500.

If you did it yourself it would have been even nicer for just the $140

Did you really need to turn the rotors? I wouldn't have bothered if they weren't absolutely necessary. They'll warp more easily in future. Pads are easy to change! Try to do it yourself the next time!

Yeah it would have been nice to save another $140. A good friend of mine has a heated garage, pneumatic lifts, etc... but he's out of town until next weekend.

In the Haynes manual it recommended that the rotors be resurfaced. Also depending on who you talk to a resurfaced rotor will let the new pads bed in properly. I couldn't feel any warpage in the rotors when I braked but my max has 98,000 miles and the rotors had shallow grooves in them. I probably would not have had the rotors resurfaced if the rotors didn't have high mileage.
