95-96 vs. 97-99 @sses...you be the judge!

I think most people prefer the '97+ rears on the Maxima. I personally think the '95-96 looks more aggressive, and the '97+ more sporty. Overall, I don't know which i'd pic! Love 'em both.. in the end I would probubly say when modified (red/clears) the early 4th gens come out sexiest

IMHO, the lights on the 97+ look better, but I prefer the bumper and the lettering on the earlier ones. In fact, I really hated my outer tails for a while, but it's all better now.

97 all the way. The earlier ones the tail lights are huge looking. Not to mention that humongous crease. Oh yea, and as for which year is stronger, compare:

That's low speed 5 MPH collisions from the iihs.org notice how the 97-99 shows almost zero damage?

I can back that one up! Last year I backed into a small 3' high pole at night cuz my tints were too dark and hit it dead center in my rear bumper. I was moving too, not just barely rolling. It didn't leave the slighest mark on the bumper! I was sooooooo scared to get out and look, but nothing was there!!! Id cry if it had looked like that photo of the 95-96.

97's look better and not just because I own one. When the 97's came out with the new grill and tail, I was hooked.

Hmm...

I like the tails of the 1997-1999 Maxs and the lettering of the 1995-1996s.

Difference is I think the 95-96 look faster and more muscle-like from the back, and the '97-99 looks more refined, sporty, and clean.

Hope that helps

I love the early 4th Gens better than the new ones. They look a lot more compact, and more balanced, front and back.

The front grill of the 95-96 is really my style. I really like it. The rear end, ehh, I like it too, except for that indent near the bottom of the trunk lid. That annoys me. But what can you do? I know! Get a spoiler, that would help out a bunch, eh?

97+ tails look the best. Red on the top white on the bottom is the way to go

Ekk, looking at that pic, I didn't expect the 95-96 to be that bad

I happen to like the 95-96 back end for everything else though:
1) horizontal crease
2) squarer inner tails
3) M A X I M A instead of MAXIMA

I think it just looks better, more aggresive ... my 0.02
I like the front grille better than the 97+ too.

I like the 97-99 better, because of the tail lights. Not to mention those pics of the 5 mph test

i like the 95-96 backs better, in fact i do like the crease, it flows well, plus the 95-96 altezzas look better than those of the 97-99, the earlier having the crease follow into the taillights, while the later just being flat

I really cannot tell the difference between a 95-96 *** between a 97-99 ***. LOL, but I do like the front end of the 97-99. I think it is more sporty and smoother.
