Cutting out front bumper opening

Would my insurance company have a problem if I cut out the center horizontal part of the front bumper? The design would look much cleaner with just one large opening.

I've been thinking about cutting the bumper too. How are you going to do it?

Hmmmm. . .not sure I like the look of that. It makes me think I should be looking for a 2' diameter turbine exhaust protruding from the bumper cover in the back. . .

Maybe it would look better with some type of grille treatment (?)

Re: Re: Cutting out front bumper opening

I want to do the same thing also, but don't know where to start.
Can someone post some instructions on hoe to do this procedure?

Thanks

p.s. a grill insert would definetly look real nice there!

That's geomax's car. (Doesn't post all that often but we hang out sometimes ... that was taken at the Woodbury, NY meet.)

And I have no idea what rims those are.

Thanks for the post guys. If I decide to do the opening, I'll definately insert some type of custom grille. Maybe one of Photoshop members can doctor up the picture attached in "Sil SE" message above.

Paint the middle black, or just get black vinyl and cover it, same result with out irreversable effect. Vinyl is only like $10 at most to cover that area, email shadow. At least do this to see how it would look in person.

Well, Spring is here and I feel the need to do some mod's to the ride. Did anybody over the last couple of months cut open the front bumper and fill the area with a grille?

Why would you want to put a mesh grill in there?

Doesnt that look good without a grill?

Well since no one is reply to my other post im going to ask here

I took my new front bumper to the autobody guy and asked him to cut it out for me. He said its a bad idea because that middle thing between the valences is where the foam support rests. If he were to cut that out it wouldnt have the foam, and the bumper would be wably or somthing. Can anyone comment on this? I was all gungho to do this but now im not too sure. Its sitting at the body shop now.

Hey,

Yeah he cut out the fog holes.
The foam fits into an area in that middle bar place so with it cut into one large opening there is no place to put the foam...

You could try to use ceramic tile lathe (also available at Home Depot).

It's what you hammer into a floor so that the tile grout/"cement mix stuff" to adhere to. It's plenty big!

hope this helps!
