What color interior do you have? I've got a black dash (w/ charcoal gray cloth seats) and I don't notice a difference in my 95.

Is your a Minima?

The airbag cover (passenger side) is made by a different supplier than the dash, and they usually match pretty well in a new car. With time, you start to notice a difference, rippling etc.

I noticed the new Camry (light gray interior) had the same color airbag cover, but different grain pattern. Not very noticeable, but nevertheless ... another case of the airbag cover mismatch.

Odd, I complain alot about my car, yet I don't experience this problem. Either that or my car is so dirty on the inside that it hides the imperfections.

yeah, dealers suck. my interior is the gray with the very very dark gray (almost black) dash and the passenger air bag doesn't match perfectly either. the dealer tried to tell me that the car had never been in an accident, but when i saw a hole poked in the a/c condenser from the bolt that sits just in front of it i knew that the front bumper had been pushed in from some sort of accident. i took the car to a mechanic and he said it was probably only in a minor accident because the suspension and front end "cage" looked perfect. from there i was able to work the price down to a steal. car's been great. as usual, dealers are so full of that brown stuff (what's that word again? it slips my mind at the moment ... hmmmm ...)

You should run a carfax report on it.

I have the same problem with my max, Tan interior with ugly dark brown dash, and it does not match. Only accident my car was ever in was a 5mph hit to the rear bumper, and the airbags have never been set off or replaced.

i have the ugly tan interior on my black 97, and mine don't match either, so i think it is just a universal problem, because my car was brand new off the lot, and the airbags have never been deployed

Seems like the majority of us having this problem have the beige/tan interior.

Don't jump the gun, just coz they don't match doesn't mean you had an accident.

I see this a lot, it's always a concern with automobile manufacturers. They have different suppliers that make the dash and the airbag cover, so there's always a possibility that the two materials will age differently.

Your covers probably mached perfectly when the car was new, but give it a few years in the sun and voila!!!

I think imperfections are more obvious on a lighter color interior, I'm happy mine's black. Goes well with my tinted windows (just got it done today!!!)

Don't worry about it. I've seen this with new cars right off the lot. I'm not sure what the reason is... I always guessed they made the airbag covers out of a different material to meet some spec.
